SummaryChristopher Morgan, a 3PL distribution company, is seeking an energetic, proactive, and detail-oriented Receiving Lead who is responsible for the overall leadership of the receiving warehouse personnel.  Working as the Receiving Lead is responsible for leading the personnel and activities related to the receiving of all goods into the warehouse to ensure client’s service levels and quality expectations are met. Food safety, lot #, and expiration date management require a detail-focused person. In this role, you must be able to effectively manage the scheduling of inbound shipments and organize the work for a team of receiving clerks. The individual will be a proactive, detail-oriented leader who is committed to managing a process-driven operation and providing exceptional service to internal and external stakeholders.

What You Will Do as a Receiving Lead:

  • Supervise a team of up to 5 receiving clerks
  • Manage daily activities related to receiving inbound shipments – scheduling, record keeping, reporting and tracking
  • Work with the Food Quality team to ensure all inbound shipments conform to GMP standards. Communicate effectively with internal employees, carriers and clients
  • Develop and implement a process to organize and prioritize the team’s overall workload
  • Become a subject matter expert in all areas related to food safety, allergen control, receiving, and inventory control with Christopher Morgan’s WMS (3PL Central)
  • Ensure all required information is documented and forms are completed when goods are received in
  • Comply with all established safety policies and procedures; promote and maintain safety awareness and identify and resolve potential safety issues
  • Train and mentor receiving clerks on the established process and inventory management best practices
  • Work with Warehouse Manager to establish and promote quality process improvements
  • Become a food safety expert.  Own additional projects and tasks as assigned by the Warehouse Manager

What We’re Looking For in a Receiving Lead:

  • 3+ years of experience in a warehouse environment or supply chain logistics – inventory management background preferred
  • 2 years food safety experience
  • 1 year of material handling experience (stand on forklift/reach truck)
  • 1+ supervisory experience with warehouse employees in a distribution center
  • Strong understanding of all warehouse processes and their connection to a WMS
  • Excellent project management skills
  • Ability to use systems and technology to multi-task, manage time and create efficiencies
  • Proficient with computers and programs including Microsoft Excel, Word and Outlook
  • Demonstrated sense of urgency to handle situations with priority
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Proven track record of creating and implementing process improvements
  • Highly detailed oriented with a critical focus on warehouse organization
  • Needs to work successfully in a team environment and independently with minimal supervision
  • Must be willing to work flexible hours as needed to meet business needs.
